Nox Cycles is a manufacturer of high-tech e-bikes. An Austrian bike brand that started out making motors rather than the other way around.

20 years of know-how & dedication since the NOX brand was launched in Berlin in 2004 out of the passion and ambition to produce competitive gravity bikes. Since then, NOX Cycles has established itself primarily in the enduro and downhill sector and has made a name as a small but fine bike manufacturer.
Since the 2015 season, having seen the future symbiosis of muscle power and e-drive, Nox focused entirely on the further development and production of high-quality e-mountain bikes. The common goal was a bike series without compromise to optimize them for ascents and especially descents in demanding terrain. Success is attributed to numerous testing and racing.
Designed and built in the beautiful Zillertal valley of Austria since October 2017. The motivation for this production facility was on the one hand the high production capacity utilization in Berlin and also putting their e-mountain bikes through their paces on the picture perfect technical rails of the Zillertal Alps.
The bike that most immediately caught the attention of local riders, media and stores is the EPIUM ENDURO 7.1 / 60 Nm. We had a chance to swing a leg over one and really enjoyed it. It doesn't look or ride like a sluggish heavyweight despite the very useful free power heading uphill and deep suspension flying back down. We rode on eco mode mostly but loved the surge of sport and full power to get back up the super steep climb to the top of Contermanskloof chasing the pro riders we were interviewing. Without having tested that many ebikes we can say that this pedal assist feels more natural than any other.
Speed and adrenaline in obstacle loaded downhill passages and daring bike park jumps – action is the goal. As a symbiosis between e-bike and normal/bio/analogue bike, the EPIUM Enduro 7.1 was designed to catapult riders into other spheres. You get the power to ride each run multiple times or tackle steep climbs that open up new horizons for you to experience more than ever before.

The centerpiece is the 2.7 kg light full-carbon monocoque frame with modern geometry and integrated suspension. A combination that creates more agility than ebikes typically afford. With the Flex Linkage System you can adapt the geometry of your bike to suit your personal needs. Powered by the brand-new FAZUA Ride 60 you are driven by 60 Nm torque and 420 Wh battery reach. 180 mm suspension travel at the front and rear and a 29"/27.5" wheel mix to assist with maneuverability and maximum downhill performance. The bike is lighter, quieter, more powerful and progressive.
The combination of a lower, quick breaking, lighter and more maneuverable rear wheel with a faster & bigger for rolling over obstacles front wheel 'mullet' wheelset makes sense given that this is an ebike and has masses of suspension travel. This design of the frame with a well stashed powerful motor means you don't have the protruding bladder frame extension under your chainring which is a) the first to take the hit when rolling over big logs or rocks and b) the single aspect that makes ebikes look less racy and streamlined than analogue bikes.
This progressive thinking is what made us feel more inclined to ride an ebike than ever before. Nox also added a Fidlock battery cover for fast access, a flip chip dropout and handy smartphone connection to a Bluetooth-enabled remote.
